Aluminium sliding doors are a modern and functional solution that provide the perfect finishing touch to any home. Designed to beautify a property both inside and out, regardless of the type or dominant style. The sliding sash opens parallel to the fixed element, so it can be used in a smaller space than swinging doors. In addition, the wide glazing in aluminium sliding doors provides fantastic panoramic views and makes access to space and nature almost at your fingertips.
What's more, aluminium sliding doors are available in a wide range of colours and finishes to suit any aesthetic. Dark sliding doors are also very on trend this year, making them a popular choice for many homeowners. However, if you're not sure if these sleek doors are for you, keep reading to find out more. We'll look at how much aluminium sliding doors cost and explain their benefits.
Advantages of aluminium sliding doors
Aluminium sliding doors in the home offer a range of benefits, from aesthetic to functional, and these include:
- panoramic views,
- creating visually appealing surfaces,
- thin frames to let in more light,
- easy and quick access to the garden,
- a seamless transition between outside and inside,
- an elegant, stylish and fashionable look,
- variety of colours and finishes,
- low maintenance costs.
The biggest advantage of aluminium sliding doors is the ability to create an unusual interior design. Enormous glazing brings more light into the house and allows optical enlargement of the room. Rooms filled with natural light also have a positive effect on the well-being of household members.
For those who like open space and a sense of freedom, large patio doors are a very attractive addition to the home. Thanks to excellent technical parameters and good insulation, sliding systems can contribute to lower heating bills. Especially if the right glazing and efficient installation are used.
In the case of energy-efficient houses, investors have so far given up large sliding doors for fear of creating thermal bridges. With the right installation, thermal break and well-chosen glazing, aluminium patio doors can achieve very good thermal insulation parameters.

HST and PSK
Aluminium sliding doors are available in two lift-and-slide HST and tilt-and-slide PSK systems.
HST sliding doors are equipped with a sliding sash and a fixed sash. These sashes are positioned parallel to each other and staggered. The HST sliding door is opened by sliding the moving sash behind the fixed sash. The movable sash moves smoothly on rollers along a track hidden in the floor. HST sliding doors tilt by stopping the moving sash at any point and lowering it with the use of a handle. They do not take up any space inside the room when opened. Their prices are slightly higher than PSK tilt and slide patio doors.
PSK tilt and slide doors also do not take up any space in the room when they are opened. In the closed position, the door, or rather its wings (fixed and sliding wings) form a straight line. On the frame of the PSK sliding door there is a visible rail, along which the carriages move, fixed on the inner frame of the moving wing. These are concealed by special grilles. PSK sliding doors are opened by tilting and sliding the movable sash away from the threshold, and then sliding this sash along the rail in the guide at the bottom of the frame. The PSK system enables smooth and quiet sliding even with very heavy and large patio doors.

Factors influencing the cost of aluminium sliding doors
The amount you have to pay for an aluminium sliding door is affected by a number of different factors. The following variables can raise or lower the price of an aluminium sliding door:
- Glass size - larger panes of glass will be more expensive than smaller options,
- Frame size - frames are available in a variety of standard sizes. If you need a frame in a different size, it will be more expensive.
- Colour and style of the door - the appearance and visual effects will affect the price you have to pay for an aluminium sliding door.
- Type of glazing - a double-glazed package will be cheaper than a triple-glazed package. There may also be other types of glazing available, known as ornamental glazing, but these will have a different cost.
- Extra security - improving the type of glazing and the type of locking system will increase the cost of aluminium sliding doors.
