A timber door is a symbol not only of durability, but also uniqueness since there are no two identical pieces of wood. An equally important aspect when choosing this material is its price. The price is not low, even if we decide to use cheaper material, such as pine wood. What is the price of timber door? What is the result? Let's check.
Timber door price
It's difficult to say unequivocally what the timber door price is, as its cost depends on several factors. Let's take a look at the most important ones which influence the price the most.
First of all, timber front door cost more, because they are much more massive and heavier than internal doors. They also have different standards when it comes to thermal or acoustic insulation, as well as anti-burglary protection.
Secondly, the type of timber from which the door is manufactured. The cheapest wood that timber door can be made from is the already mentioned pine wood. It is strong and durable, but in these categories, oak wood definitely wins. This can also be seen in the price, as front door made of oak wood can cost us up to 50% more. If you want to slightly reduce the cost of a new timber door, it is worth paying attention to meranti wood (approximately 20% more expensive than pine), which is similar to oak wood in terms of hardness.
Thirdly, we need to be aware that the price of the door sash is one thing, but we also need to add fittings, seals, handles and glazing (if we choose doors with glazing). Each departure from the standard and selection of a non-standard solution results in a price increase of even a dozen or so percent.
Fourthly, anti-burglary features - although obviously necessary - also increase the price of a front door. The most expensive (and therefore the best) anti-burglary door will be solid, without glazing, class III or IV. The cost of new timber door increases in this case also due to the fact that in anti-burglary doors wood is combined with steel sheet, which additionally strengthens their construction. The central type C lock locks the door in at least 3 places, and a second lock is fitted on the room side. It is also possible to install an anti-burglary glass in timber door for an extra charge.

Interior doors have long ceased to serve a purely utilitarian function. They constitute an important element of every interior design. They are not only an indispensable, functional part of the house, but also an integral decoration. Made of natural material, they add class and noble character to the interiors. But from what does interior timber door prices depend?
Doors made of chipboard or fibreboard are much lower on the price scale than classic timber door due to cheap materials used in their production. They may be finished with natural or artificial veneer, stained in any colour, but they remain an imitation of timber door. If doors made of this type of board (e.g. the popular MDF) get damaged, their repair is usually impossible and ends with the purchase of a new door and replacement. The most expensive among timber door are those finished with exotic wood. An extraordinary effect is given especially by those types of "exotics", which are characterized by a unique colour, such as rosewood.
Timber door price - how to reduce it?
The timber door price will undoubtedly be reduced by choosing doors made either of a cheaper type of wood (e.g. pine) or even timber-based materials. They are much cheaper than solid wood because MDF or HDF are most often used to make them. They are not as heavy and massive as timber door, which is why they are most often used as internal doors, but on the market you will also find front doors made of such materials. However, we should take into account that, yes, the price will be lower, but the lifespan of such doors will be shorter. Is this really the compromise we want?
